Worth Starvation

How much money do you spend on books each month? $7? $14? $50? $100? More?

I don't keep track of what I spend. Sometimes I'll just buy one or two books; other times I go nuts and proceed to buy every book mentioned in the blogs I read.

Today, after a visit to the dentist, I rushed to my favorite UBS and proceeded to do the latter. Fortunately, I know I will not be disappointed. I bought:

Julie Garwood - THE SECRET, THE PRIZE, THE LION'S LADY, CASTLES, PRINCE CHARMING, THE WEDDING, THE BRIDE, GUARDIAN ANGEL

Deborah Simmons - SILENT HEART, THE GENTLEMAN THIEF

I couldn't find any Judith McNaught books (go figure), so I drove to Barnes & Noble and bought SOMETHING WONDERFUL and ALMOST HEAVEN.

I'm very happy...my wallet isn't too pleased, but I'll think about that when I'm eating lentil soup for a week when I run out of money 'cause I spent it all on books (yeah...if I sound hostile after reading a bad romance novel, now you know why!).

Anyone else depriving themselves of nourishment for the sake of a good book?

Not lately, but I have been known to do that. *grin*

Also, I just wanted to drop in and say that you have a ton of great reading ahead! Those JG and JM books are wonderful! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on them, especially The Secret, The Bride and The Wedding by JG and Something Wonderful and Almost Heaven by JM. :)

Happy reading!

I'm defintely in the over $100 a month group although I haven't really sat down and though about it. That would be too scary. Most books here now are $10 a book and I KNOW I buy more than 10 a month. Luckily my kids are all grown and (finally!!!) I have a decent paying job.

Hi there -- don't buy My Lord DeBurgh by Deborah Simmons cause I have an extra copy. And do you ever have fabulous hours of reading ahead of you to look forward to ... just space out the Garwoods: it is definitely possible to OD on her heroines.

She Drives Me Crazy

Linda Castillo:

I've been in this historical slump lately, but after re-reading AH the other day, I'm kind of wanting to read more now. Unfortunately, all the books I bought are contemps..LOL

It really varies and depends on if I have gift cards or coupons. I also count the price of mailing out books to PBS in there since that's book credits. Jan. was around $70, dunno what this month is yet.

i depends. I Order books online and i try to buy enough to get me free shipping. Plus I don't want hubby having a cow with the amount of money I spend on book. When I was single, whoa baby. ha ha

I know how you feel. There're times when I just go on crazy book shopping sprees that throw my budget out of the window.

That said, those JGs you bought are some of the best historicals she's written. Do heed Janet's advice though.

Happy reading!
