Legs...AGAIN?

I don't get it. Avon's got an author who has practically fallen off the face of the earth. Everyone "knows" she's writing a new novel or series or whatever, but it's never confirmed by anyone with clout...just fans who believe they know. Where is Judith Ivory? Where is Judith Ivory? Big mystery, right? Well, you would think Avon or someone would post something about Ivory's upcoming ANGEL IN A RED DRESS (which is only a revised reprint of a previous work)...right? WRONG! I'd like to thank BAM for posting the cover. Pretty suggestive (after doing the Bay to Breakers yesterday and seeing all these random naked people run, I'm seeing a lot of strange things today...use your imagination). I don't know if I like it...I like the red, but the legs? AGAIN? I'm kinda getting sick of legs and shoulder and arm covers! Enough already!

whine whine whine

You guys are never ever happy with the covers *g*.

I am surprised they changed the name for a reissue of an author who has been gone for a while. It will be interesting to see if it is easy for the general reader who isn't online to tell it is a reprint or not.

well, I'd guessed people would be happy if that wasn't such a horrid cover. from a designer's viewpoint that's just crap. my teacher would love to make fun of this mehehehe.

Cripes - I hate it when they change titles on reprints. I don't care if she rewrote the dang thing - it's just confusing for the general reader who doesn't spend their entire life online.

And I'm not wild about the cover either. I think it's the process of lifting her dress to give us the Full Frontal shot that bothers me. It's like she's a Regency stripper or getting ready to throw her skirts up for some guy in a back alley in Whitechapel.

Like the red through.

err...Wendy...are you saying I'm always online? I found the info on some random site one time...I was looking for new Ivory news because I love her books and can't seem to understand what the heck happened to her. Not many people know it's a reprint though, which blows because I wonder if people who already own or have read STARLIT SURRENDER will rush and buy this thinking it's a new book. Those folks at Avon are so clever.

Now if they rerelease Dance I will be one happy camper! Have you seen the price for that one and Bliss?? Wowzers! Luckily I have Bliss.

Ha ha - no RomanceLover, I was just ranting in general. I have a hard enough time explaining to library patrons that "checking the copyright date" is a good thing. "Yes, I know it's 'new' and in hard cover but it was first published back in 1985 as a $2.50 paperback."

These folks tend to be readers who aren't online.

The sad thing is - if Ivory reworked enough of the text she might get a new copyright date. Sure hope they is an author note or something like that included so readers realize it's essentially a reprint....

Wendy, I read somewhere that Ivory wanted the original to be a bit different, but Avon wouldn't let her at the time. This new one is supposed to be how Ivory wanted the book to begin with. No clue what that means, but yeah...not too many know it's a reprint and I'm annoyed AVON doesn't make much of an effort to advertize it as such.
Kristie - Who knows? We might get DANCE and BLISS sooner or later. WHY? Well, has anyone heard anything about Ivory in the last year or so (maybe more)? Looks like, despite all these talks of new books, we might not see any. I love Ivory and hope she comes back.
