Here a Book, There a Book, Everywhere a Book Book...

No, ladies...your eyes are not deceiving you. Above is a picture of a warehouse full of books, books and more books and this weekend I WAS THERE!!! Every year the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library hold a massive four day book sale. On and off for those four days, I was there rummaging through piles of books, dropping everything in my cart and buying, buying, buying and not coming even close to breaking the bank. Prices varied from $1 to $10, with everything being dropped to $1 on Sunday. I think I bought close to 50 books for less than $80. The books are in excellent condition; some are out of print hardcovers you'd probably find at a UBS for $50.

I managed to find Mary Balogh's SIMPLY LOVE on sale for only $1. This is the same book that went on sale as a hardcover a few months ago that I refused to buy because of the price ($23). I was going to hold off for the paperback, on sale in March 2007. Well...looks like it does pays to wait. Now I know I cheated Ms. Balogh on some good hard earned profit by buying the book for a buck, but honestly....how do I say this without sounding like a bitch...I don't give a crap!!! All I can think about is that I bought it for a dollar...a dollar!!! I saved $22!!! That alone deserves a brownie...and I'm craving one right about now.

I have enough books for a couple of years, but I'm now contemplating buying more. I'm missing my romances and am now slowly coming out of my slump. I'm headed to buy THE VAMPIRE WHO LOVED ME later today. The book received an incredible review on AAR. It's a series book; I enjoyed the first one AFTER MIDNIGHT and can't wait to read this.

Am I crazy? My parents think I need to calm down when it comes to book buying. They believe I overdo it. Maybe I did this weekend, but who can blame me?!? Check out the picture above again. I felt like a kid in a candy store. It definitely energized me. I needed it. I can now finish reading Anne Stuart's A ROSE AT MIDNIGHT. Review to follow.

OMG, just looking at that pic makes me giddy! Lucky you! I wish I could find some awesome sales like that. And yeah, my family tells me I overdo the book buying too but it's what makes me happy and I can't help it so...*shrugs* Glad you had a great book buying weekend though and I've got A ROSE AT MIDNIGHT in my TBR pile too so I look forward to hearing what you think of it! :-)

Dance Chica - ARAM is great...the hero is really dark and I just love him!!! I love the secondary romance, too..it's actually funny and it's much needed since the main one is so dark. I'll finish it tonight and post tomorrow, then I'll read SIMPLY LOVE!

Yes, Devonna...this book sale was nuts. They had a romance section but the books were organized like the others were, so you literally had to dig. They had a lot of Harlequins and authors I've already read...nothing that really appealed to me in that section, but SIMPLY LOVE...I found that one in the hardcover fiction section (yes, everything is divided up into genre). I had a blast!!!

Ooooo....jealous. Thank you at least for waiting until after the event finished so I couldn't try and bribe some of my family to go buy books for me! :)

LOL...too funny, Ms. Adventures. You're jealous?!? You live in Italy! I wish I were there right now. What do you think of head hunters finding me a job there? There are a few that apparently charge over a hundred to create a curriculum vitae for you and then send it off to companies. Are these legit?
BTW - it was so much fun..the book sale!

OH.MY.GOSH. I WANT I WANT I WANT! *le gasp*

We don't have ANYTHING like that here. *sniffle*

You should have seen me when I found a UBS close to my house, though. I'd lived her for 3 years and never found one, so when I did I squealed like a kid and the owner looked at me like I was insane. LOL

Damn, I'm jealous! I want a FULL list of the books you bought, too. ;)

Whenever you have a passion for something, someone is bound to think you're overdoing it.

The books I bought are mostly biographies and historical non-fictions, but I will write up a list and let you know...oh, and SIMPLY LOVE for $1.

I am definitely floored by the picture and I think I would have been overwhelmed unless they had the books set out by genre.

I mean, where would I start? Do I have enough time? Did someone get the Anne Stuart book I've been pining for before I even go here?!

Yeah, maybe it's for the best that we don't have sales like this around here. I would definitely hurt myself ;)

Glad you found some great buys!
