Organizing Books

My TBR books are in a big yellow Target storage bin. Unfortunately, it's not big enough. I have other books in a drawer, which is also not big enough. I need a room dedicated to only TBR romance novels. It's gotten so bad and it's about to get worse. I'm going to do some heavy book shopping today. I really need to cool it, but books are better than drugs and alcohol, right?

My read books are in my new library (it was originally a dining room), locked in a beautiful built-in glass cabinet. My apartment is in an older type building. I have no idea how old it is, but I'm hoping it'll one day survive THE BIG ONE San Franciscans have been waiting for for decades. I turned my dining room into a library for hardcover classics and historical biographies. What else is a book lover to do?

Where are all your books, both TBR and already read? Do you sell them back immediately and only keep a chosen few or do you keep them forever, just in case the author decides to write a sequel? I'm a bit of a pack rat. I'm trying to change, but it's impossible when it comes to books. I'll buy books I won't even read, only because I want it in my future two floor library. Romance novels I can't get rid of at all, unless I'm forced to destroy it and the memory of having read it because it stunk so bad.

I have to start organizing my romance novels...a good way to say is this new feature I discovered today on Sybil's blog. Don't know how long it's been up, but it looks awesome. Check it out here.

With only 2 rather small bookshelves, mine are in tubs and tubs - and boxes and boxes and bags and bags - all over the house now. My son is moving out soon and I have decided to convert his bedroom into my own personal romance library and finally (finally) unpack them all. When that happens I will post all the pictures.

My books are rather spread out... the majority are in bookcases in the dining room of my apartment, but several boxes still live with my parents. Then there's the emergency bookshelf of romance novels at my boyfriend's... and all the books I have out in the world, loaned to friends.

When I finally have an apartment all to myself, I plan to bring all of my books together and reunite them in a full library. When that happens, rest assured my blog will host the pictures!

I bought those DVD/Video shelves from Office Max (or Staples). I have 2 of the biggest ones available. I keep probably 300+ ooks that are my TBR pile in my bedroom. They fit paperbacks perfectly! They are alphabetized by author, then title.

My Keeper pile is under my bed in those really thin boxes. I have maybe 100 books there.

My husband says it feels like he lives in a UBS. I tell him tough luck!!

I can't get rid of books...ever. Even if I hated them with a passion, I just can't bring myself to get rid of them. I'm terrible about it.

I have them all on shelves in my living room. Right now I have 2. One has three shelves and the books are stacked 2 deep on it and the other has four shelves and the books are stacked 3 deep. Plus, there are more sitting on top of the shelves. My entertainment center is also covered with books. I think at last count I had somewhere around 900 (of those, I'd say probably 750 are romance novels.

I just can't bring myself to get rid of any of them. *Sigh*

As for my TBR pile, I just put the ones I haven't read in with the ones I have, in alphabetical order.
